Reverse Osmosis Freshwater Maker – Voyagaer

Marine reverse osmosis desalination system

reverse osmosis freshwater maker

Product VWM Series
REPLACE_IMAGE — VWM Series reverse osmosis freshwater maker

next-gen marine desalination, built for total water independence.

The VWM Series Reverse Osmosis Freshwater Maker produces potable and technical water directly onboard, using advanced multi-stage membrane arrays instead of heavy thermal evaporation. It operates independently of any heat source, reducing reliance on onshore bunkering and giving vessels greater operational freedom in open ocean, brackish water or municipal-supply conditions.

Process

Reverse osmosis, multi-stage membrane

Construction

Duplex 2205 high-pressure lines, stainless steel chassis

Capacity range

0.5 – 200 m³/day, scalable

reverse osmosis freshwater maker

The VWM Series bypasses the heavy energy penalties of traditional thermal evaporators, using advanced multi-stage membrane arrays to secure a steady water supply under the harshest maritime conditions — without needing an available heat source.

automatic intelligence & fail-safe operations

Managing an auxiliary system shouldn't add to your crew's workload. The VWM Series pairs a PLC with a smart touch-screen telemetry dashboard, putting total control at your fingertips.

Capacity range

0.5–200 m³/day

Control system

PLC + touch-screen telemetry

Touch-screen telemetry is fitted from the VWMS-P5 model upward; the two smallest units in the range (VWMS-P0.5, VWMS-P2.5) use PLC control without the touch display — see the model range table under Tech Specs.

Main features

  • Reverse osmosis desalination using multi-stage polyamide thin-film composite membranes
  • Scalable configurations from 0.5 m³/day up to 200 m³/day
  • Duplex 2205 high-pressure lines with a precision-profile stainless steel chassis
  • High-pressure radial piston pumps built for continuous-duty cycles
  • Dual-stage design producing both potable and ultra-pure technical water
  • PLC control with smart touch-screen telemetry dashboard (VWMS-P5 and larger)

Main advantages

  • Operates independently — no heat source required, unlike thermal evaporators
  • Real-time salinity monitoring with automatic diverter-valve protection
  • Optional VFD and energy recovery device to reduce power draw
  • Reduces reliance on onshore bunkering, extending operational range
  • Technical water output suited to boiler feed, cooling loops and propulsion systems
  • Corrosion-resistant construction built for harsh maritime environments

dual performance: potable + technical water

An advanced dual-stage system guarantees water independence, producing both safe potable water and ultra-pure technical water for demanding mechanical loads.

Stage 1 — Potable water

Accommodation & galley

Stage 2 — Technical water

Boiler feed & cooling loops

A dedicated stream of Stage 1 potable water is channelled into a second, ultra-fine RO membrane array, removing the final trace dissolved solids for Stage 2 technical output.

how it works

From raw seawater to potable and technical output — how the VWM Series produces both grades of water onboard.

REPLACE_IMAGE — Stage 1, potable water generation

stage 1 — potable water generation

Raw seawater is pressurised through heavy-duty polyamide thin-film composite membranes. This initial pass strips away salt, minerals and organic impurities, delivering high-quality, safe freshwater for accommodation and galley use.

REPLACE_IMAGE — Stage 2, technical distillate production

stage 2 — technical distillate production

Instead of relying on a separate, energy-heavy thermal distiller, a dedicated stream of the Stage 1 potable water is channelled into a second, ultra-fine RO membrane array. This secondary pass removes the final trace dissolved solids, yielding high-purity technical water for boiler feed systems, machinery cooling loops and alternative propulsion requirements.

REPLACE_IMAGE — Smart monitoring and fail-safe control

smart monitoring & fail-safe control

An integrated PLC continuously monitors water quality. If a fluctuating sea state alters input salinity, an automatic diverter valve blocks out-of-spec water before it reaches the freshwater storage tanks. An optional VFD and energy recovery device further reduces power draw across the vessel's energy grid.

Built for demanding environments

compliance & construction

The VWM Series is engineered for the harshest maritime conditions, combining marine-grade metallurgy with a modular chassis built for continuous-duty operation at sea.
